Banking Central

The Banking Central app connects the bank accounts of Business Central to European banks through Open Banking. Transactions and balances are read from the bank itself, on the schedule set in the job queue, and are available for reconciliation without exporting statements from online banking.

Connection and import

  • The authorisation is granted by the bank under PSD2 and is read-only: the app reads transactions and balances and does not make payments.
  • The connection starts from the bank account card and continues in Business Central once the authorisation on the bank site is complete.
  • The automatic import runs from the job queue at the frequency configured, within the daily download limits set by the bank.
  • Transactions already imported are recognised through the identifier assigned by the bank, with no duplicates, and every run remains in the import history.

Reconciliation and monitoring

  • Transaction reason codes interpret the codes and descriptions sent by the bank and propose the account for each line, with dedicated G/L accounts for fees, interest and taxes.
  • The standard automatic application of Business Central completes the remaining lines against customer, vendor, employee and bank entries; vendors are also recognised by the SEPA creditor identifier.
  • Transactions reach the payment reconciliation journals or the bank account reconciliation, where posting happens with the standard functions.
  • Every linked account shows connection status and expiry and the balance reported by the bank, comparable with the ledger balance; an email notification is sent before the connection expires.
